Mainak Santra is a consultant Speech-Language Pathologist. His expertise include the assessment and treatment of language, voice, articulation, swallowing and feeding disorders. He has worked at different clinical settings and believes in spreading awareness about speech and language problems in children through various workshops and journals.
He has worked on several poster presentations on Tinnitus, Insomnia and Public Speaking Skills produced them at ISHACON in 2006. In 2008 he has conducted another poster presentation on ‘Tinnitus Related Quality of Life’. He also spoke on Audiological Medicine under the campaign, Public Speaking Skills for the SLPs at International Symposium in 2008. His first journal of Indian Speech and Hearing Association on the topic ‘Composite Tinnitus Management’ was published in 2007. In 2016, his Asia Pacific research journal was published on the topic ‘Psychometric Validation of Phonemically Balanced Word Lists in Bengali.
He has also been one of the spokespersons of the MDT team and contributed his effort and expert knowledge on some workshops, dealing with issues like-‘Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) through AAF and Skill Sprout of New Jersey USA’, ‘Feeding Difficulties- Role of MDT’ and ‘Nutrition and Behavioral in Pediatric Practice’ at Apollo Gleneagles Hospital. He also spoke on ‘Communication Problem in ASD’ in CRE Program in 2011.
As a certified therapist, Mainak Santra has offered effective voice and speech treatment sessions on one-to-one basis. In addition, he is a part of MDT research team that works on the development of language and improvement of interaction skills. He has also worked with the Department of Psychology, University of Calcutta on ‘Necessary Development of a Diagnostic Tool for Clinical Assessment of Specific Learning Disability and Prevalence of Specific Learning Disability ’ in Bengali, Hindi and English medium primary school going children in West Bengal (2010-2014). He has, later, worked on Language ‘Profiles in Bengali Language in Children with Autism’ with the Department of Psychology, University of Calcutta.
He has earned his graduation and post graduation degrees in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology from AYJNIHH (ERC). He has extensive experience of working as a Speech and Language Pathologist and Audiologist at the Child Development Centre of Apollo Gleneagles Hospital for over 4 years. His latest session includes an academic program on ‘Social and Communication Management of Individual with Multiple Disabilities’ and CRE Program on ‘Holistic Management of Persons with Multiple Disabilities’ in 2017.
